Proper outdoor setup?

Well I live up in canada and during the summer it gets to the perfect temperature for chams outside during the summer (around 85). So i thought of keeping my panther, Ozzy outside in his screen cage, and I had a lot of questions.
1. Can I keep him outside ALL day? (With enough towel/tarp for shade)

2. Can he sleep outside perfectly fine?

3. Is this all possible without a misting system? (Im still in school, so I have all my summers off and I am home most of the day, gone for an hour or two at the most)

4. Is it safe for him on my deck on the side of the house at night? (Predators, and I have a wood board blocking enterance for keeping rodents away)

I personally would not feel safe leaving my chameleon overnight with that type of screening. I will let one of mine sleep outside in the cage I have that has the thick screening that is like coated chicken wire. My regular screen cage, I do not let them sleep in. I don't have a mister but run a large dripper until it runs out.

So I thought about it for a while, and from you I got that I shouldnt have him sleep outside, so for that, should I bother with any UVB when I bring him in to sleep? Thanks for replying.

A few hours of real sunshine should be plenty to generate enough active D. You should not need to supplement UVB after bringing him inside. He will still need calcium though. Besides, they do need dark when they sleep. Night lights will only stress him.

Alright i wont do with any bulbs than. Ill be giving him his calcium tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

No, he will get enough uvb from being outside. That was just my opinion on letting them sleep outside with that type of screening. It just seems too easy to rip open if something wanted to get at your chameleon. In the end, it is really up to you!

This was our solution to the outside cage issue. Works great and we have had zero issues with it.

If you want detailed pics with measurements, please PM me.

I made a chart of my deck sun exposure every 2 hours. Helped to find the optimal cage placement. Avoid direct sun exposure at it's hottest point (for my location @ 3pm).I built a secure cage around my Reptiibreeze to keep predators out.

I second that.

Carol if he sleeps on the screen a raccoon can and will grab him and rip him through the sceen. Be very careful. Rats and mice will take a piece--a foot, leg or tail--if they can grab them. I want to put a bunch of mine outside but I will be building it with two layers of predator-proof screen.
