Progress with Simba

I'm pleased to say, Simba is feeding from forceps with no probs. He's not as wary of me as he used to be. :D

I know we've still got a long way to go, but it's great to have him not hide every time I go over.

I was even sat right beside his enclosure, with the door open a couple of days ago. Simba was on the branch right at the front and had no probs taking a morio worm from me and munching it up.

I'll keep going with the forceps for a while, then start using my hand, then the next step etc....

Here's a couple of pics of the handsome lil man:

Really startin to colour up now. Gettin more red around his face

nice looking setup!!!!! How do you keep water from collecting in his food bowl you have set up there?

Thankyou :)

His dripper is at the other side of the enclosure so no water drips into it from that as the plants are mainly underneath it.

From the spray bottle mistings he also gets, any water that collects in the feeder cup drips out of the hole I drilled in the bottom of the bowl ;)

I was wondering because I know with all the misting I do, those crickets would have to learn to swim or die....lol

LOL. I don't feed crickets. They stink and freak me out. He gets well gut loaded locusts as a staple. Then to add variety:

Dubia roaches
Butterworms
Silkworms
Calci worms - and the resulting soldier flies
Morio Worms

Not much water gets into the bowl to be honest, but any that does, drips out the hole like I say.

The locusts normally climb out of the bowl and he hunts them. Love watching him hunt. He never misses.

Worms go in the bowl, but as OP says, I've been making progress hand feeding him (well with forceps) too.

No dead insects in the bowl as yet. He eats everything I put in there!! LOL
