Humidity for the past few days has been roughly 70%. before that probably around 40%. I create and maintain humidity throughout the whole room with a humidifier. I use a petco "piece-of-crap" hygrometer but I just ordered a much more accurate xikar hygrometer online that should be here in about a day.
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? Live, I have a honeysuckle vine and a pothos vine as well as a baby schefflera. I also have a large stick and several smaller sticks from outside that I have cleaned and sanded for her to relax on.
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? Cage is in my bedroom. it is not near any vents or fans that have been running. The overall height of the cage on its table is 7'.
Location - Where are you geographically located? I am in Omaha, NE (midwest)
Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about. My chameleon is having her first shed with me. It started on saturday (5 days ago) and her body still has not shed. She shed all of her legs but im worried because i don't see her body or her head peeling at all. I took her to the vet two days ago because I noticed the tip of her tail died from what i thought, and the vet confirmed, was circulation being cut off due to lack of shedding. I felt really bad about her tail. This is the first cham I have had but I have been reading like crazy, built her this cage and was trying to take good care of her. I spoke with the vet about the shed and she said it should only take a couple days. Even with me keeping the humidity at 70% she doesn't seem to be making any progress on the shed.
Should I be worrying or will it happen eventually? Thanks for any input everyone.
