hey guys so my Baxter has been asleep all day and i heard it means something could be wrong. i misted his enclosure like crazy and he started to lick the walls of the enclosure to catch droplets and then went back to this spot with closed eyes, i’m worried what could be wrong? i was at the beach recently and had my sister in charge of turning off his lights so maybe his sleeping pattern is all off? please give me some advice he was so healthy and lively eating mealworms and crickets off our hands 😞

In a previous thread you were told your chameleon looked thin and the eyes were a concern. What did you do about the eyes then? It still looks thin.
I think a visit to a good chameleon vet is in order.

You mig want to answer the questions in the how to ask for help bread near the top of the health forum too.

@Chamjordan
I just went through all your prior threads. Looks like we have asked you to fill out the health form but you never come back to do so. This is important especially if there are issues with eyes closing. May mean you have the incorrect UVB lighting or supplementation which can lead to MBD. Or it could mean there is an illness that needs to be addressed asap. Copy paste the below info into your replay and be detailed in your responses. We will need pictures of the entire enclosure including the lighting on top. In your picture I see that you are using fake plants and moss vines which are an impaction risk for Veileds. So these are things we cover when you have filled out the form and provided pictures.

Here is some recommended information to include when asking for help in the health clinic forum. By providing this information you will receive more accurate and beneficial responses. It might not be necessary to answer all these questions, but the more you provide the better. Please remember that even the most knowledgeable person can only guess at what your problem may be. Only an experienced reptile veterinarian who can directly examine your animal can give a true diagnosis of your chameleon's health.

Chameleon Info:

  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?

Cage Info:

  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
