Problem Solved: 2 Hydors!

Thought I would share some experience:

So I started out with one 200 W Hydor water heater...

The water was not really warm, was just not cold. I followed Dave's direction to invert the flow and all...

Found a DIY thread but didn't get enough info that I could go and build it (which I woul have preferred).

So after some thinking (which I do but not very often!) I ordered a second Hydor (300 W this time).

Installed it in line with the first and NOW, water comes out nice and warm!! Obviously it cools down once it hit the air, but Vinny IS having a blast showering and drinking! I didn't think it would make that much difference!!

take care,
Roberto.

Are you using both of them at the same time? Does it stay on all day? How much? Sorry im just interested in getting one.

this post is totaly worthless without pics. :p

ok, ok, I get what you're talking bout, but have no idea what the products are or how you have them installed.

Hydor is a self contained water heater, used on fishtanks.

Attached is a picture of it. You can buy it in many fishstores online. I bought mine through Dr.Fosters.

You install it in line with your misting tube.

The first one is attached right before it goes into the pump (right after the water reservoir). This is how others are using.

I have added a second one, AFTER the pump this time.

They are both plugged in to the same timer, but not the same timer as the misting pump one. The come on 1 minute before the pump, and turn off 1 minute before the pump.

The first Hydor is a 200W one and it is set for higher temperature. The second one, a 300W one, is set to a little less than 3/4 full heat.

Let me know if this helped!!

would you belive that I used to have what seemed like hundreds of tanks for breeding freash water angelfish, and never seen or heard of this before? :p
then again, I never liked the filters they are designed for.

thanks for the added info...I'm sure it helped more then just me.

Hey Harry,

Just to make sure, this is not a filter but a water heater!

Fluval makes those in-line filters that I believe you are thinking about...

Take care.

oh yes, I know they are heaters.
in fact, I'm not suprized that they work better for you once you use two of them as they are limited in the amount of time that they touch the water.

they also come in a 5/8" inlet/outlet tube size...something that for most people will find diffecult to install when they are using 1/4" tubing.

I'm still wondering why submersible heaters in the bucket wont do at least just as good a job...???

Harry

One issue with the submerssible is that they will have to be on all the time to keep the water hot when ready to mist...
