Problem getting new Zoo Med cage put together

I was so excited to get a good price on a Zoo Med open air enclosure in a bigger size for my Graceful Chameleon Mister Li-zard. I went with the 24"x24"x48" size since the one he came with was too small for him long term.

I didn't tell my husband I went ahead and ordered it and it came today. He's working tonight so I thought I would put it together tonight and let him see it when he comes home in the morning. When I got it all out and went to put the first screw in it they don't fit all the holes. The screw will fit the hole in the side piece but it won't fit the hole that is in the top piece. So, I don't know if they just sent the wrong size screws or if the holes in the top piece were not drilled properly.

Needless to say I'm majorly bummed out and hoping my husband can figure out a way to make it work on his off day tomorrow. Anyone else have a problem with putting together a new cage from Zoo Med?

Some of the holes are just smaller/snug after manufacturing. Without going through the side piece first, just try to start the screw in the hole that is too tight. You should be able to get it to bite that way. Then back it out and that should make it much easier when assembling to the other side piece!

I tried and tried to make the screw fit and go through the too tight one and I just couldn't make it go through. My husband is awesome at putting things together for me when I need him to so I'm hoping he will make it go together good.

There are two different size screws. There are ones for assembling the sides, ends and top. There are also ones for the door. If it is the reptibreeze that you are talking about.

My wonderful husband put the enclosure together for me. Tomorrow when my chameleon wakes up I'm going to finish adding things to it so I can work in the items in his current enclosure. I can't wait for him to go in there and realize it's for him.

It took most of the day but I finally got his new cage fixed up the way I want it. I was able to find him a couple of smaller umbrella plants I had been searching for. He has been exploring around and I think he likes it.

Awesome!! It must feel good to finally be done and let him explore his new enclosure.
