Preparing for my first chameleon, tips appreciated

I hope so as well as a vet visit is unlikely tomorrow and Wednesday. I need to travel both of those days for family occasions, but this is very important to me and I'm sure if it came down to it they'd understand.

I have not yet heard back from the vet
 
Reduce your basking temps, not only is it too hot for someone of her age but also for a female in general, go down to around 84.

As far as the Reptivite is with D3 or without? I can't remember and am about to dash out of the house.
 
It's 2:13pm currently, yes.

And she doesn't bask at 90F, she hangs out in the spot that's 85F degrees, just depending on how close she wants to get (the backwall is climbable) she can get to 90F. I can lower the temps, but I dont want her plastered against the wall and top screen to get warmer

Mamool's basking temps are hi . 83/84 is optimal for females . If she does have URI then you was 85/86 just for a few days .

She should be good around the 84 mark . The little ones love being up side down she may just do that just because :love:.
 
She's hung upside down a few times which is why I included the gradient, but her spot and the main basking area is around 83-86 depending on where she stands/clings
 
So otherwise things look fine?
Only issues being that I don't have an auto-mister?

I may dismantle and spray everything down with F10 again once home just to be sure it's clean.

Reading the symptoms and seeing them start in Mamool really makes me think a URI is what claimed JaJa

I personally think you are a wonderful keeper . I believe you are very Aware Of your pets needs . I'm not going to say it's an issue that you don't have the automatic Mister I think it would be helpful for you . It's a finer mist and you could set it several times a day for several min your still likely to come home at lunch to check on your babies . I do both hand and automatic. I know Amazing keepers on here that only hand mist then know some that swear by automatic misting . Your her keeper and in the end of the day you know what's best for her and you .
 
Thank you, I appreciate that :) my pets are my world, and it destroys me that I've had such bad luck or general issues with a chameleon as I've worked so far to get everything right. There are neglect cases where the chameleons seem to be doing better or at least living longer than mine. Not that Mamool is on her death bed, but she was looking very uncomfortable when I was on lunch.

I will look into my options for an auto mister, but I want to get her healthy first. I do believe there are benefits to it being automatic in cases where I'm unable to be there to mist her, but in the same regard I'm extremely unfamiliar with them and am unsure how I could make it work with my setup.

You would have to either cut a hole and make drainage into a bucket or make/get a tray . That can hold the water use a shop vac to suck the water out . I set ours up and I'm a girl lol . Chameleons are tricky specialized care . I know how much you love your babies and it's heartbreaking to see them sick . I get it Frances has had 5 URI several vet visits we have had her a year and I would be heart sick if we lost her . I understand the worry believe me . They can't tell you what's wrong . Its all guessing !!. You do your best and know you did everything for that little girl in your power .
 
I'm not going to lie, it's extremely discouraging. I'd love to have a chameleon, but if anything happens with Mamool I'm debating if I'd even try another one :( I don't want anything to happen to her

I think a lot of new keepers feel that way with a loss . Hopefully your vet can see her . Even with intervention there's not always a good outcome . I'm not saying that for Mamool . I hope as well that she has a good outcome and you can rehab her . I understand though This has not been a great experience for you .
 
Excellent !!. In the mean time just make sure she's well hydrated . If you can get her out side even for 30 min that would be great . Could you get ointment for her eyes ?
