Potting live plants

Can you use the typical reddish clay/tericatta <sp> pots or should we stick to plastic? Does it matter?

I'm going to wash the leaves of my new plants with mild soapy water and rinse thoroughly, repot in organic soil.

I don't know if my veiled will eat the soil, I hear this "can" be a problem. Should I cover the soil with pebbles? Are pebbles too small/light? Will the cham move them? Need heavier stones/rocks?

Terra-cotta type pots are fine, I actually would prefer those, especially if they have texture - that way the chameleons can climb up them to the trees!

The Veiled shouldn't eat the soil; if it does, it will likely be as a result of catching feeders (which you can avoid by feeding out of a cup or something similar). If you are using organic soil, it shouldn't be an issue at all. A small amount of bedding in the mouth isn't an issue, as they can spit it out or easily pass a small amount. Again, though, the easiest way to avoid this is to feed out of a cup or use tweezers.

Otherwise, sounds like you have it set. :) Have fun with your new cham!

If you can find it or make ABG (Atalanta Botanical Garden) mix is real nice for potting terrarium plants. It has very sharp drainage, decomposes very slowly and is free of perlite and other particles that may cause trouble.
