Potted golden pothos

I bought a potted golden pothos at lowes the other day and it has a thing going up the middle of it so the vines would climb it. Would it be a good idea to break the vines off of this structure or should I just leave it in the pot and let the vines go? It's like a big cylinder made out of natural yarn or something.

I bought same thing mine had a large wooden support up the middle??? Did you remove??
