My last post was 5000, so I thought I would take a moment to reflect!
The Great things!
Chameleons for me has been a hobby and passion that has surpassed all others! I love these animals, their uniqueness and their quirks. It has been a pleasure and a challenge! But the best thing is to have a whole community of people to share both sucess and, well, non-sucess and loss. Plus it really gave a bit of purpose to that old Biology degree!
I see many more years to come for me, and yet I understand the burnout factor, and have seen many great keepers get out of keeping. I love doing shows! I love meeting people and talking chams!
The Bad things!
I spend WAY too much time sitting right here!
And a lot of time staring into cages, egg bins, and on feeder care.
Since Jan 2007 when I joined, I have not finished painting the dining room, kitchen, backside of the house, nor have I fixed the hole in the ceiling here in the family room or the ceiling stains from the air conditioner leak all because I fear paint fumes and it is just too hot here to put the chams outside. It will start cooling down and I fully intend to get these things done!
It takes far more time and money to deal with dog fleas since I also will not bomb the house or use many of the sprays or powders because of the chams. I have to bribe my kids to water baby chams while I am at work all day, and that gets expensive!
And of course having chams has led to the tortoise and the gecko thing!
The people I truly want to thank!
Brad-of course for this forum of fabulous people!
Trace for talking me though my first Brev hatch, and many, many more issues!
Kent for all of the help with just about every topic I can imagine!
Chris A-he gives me security in all of his study and knowledge and he is just a very nice person.
And of course Mike-for getting me into this in the first place, for "letting" me work his booth, and for being a great guy with a great family!
There are countless others, so I fear nobody feels left out!
Here's to the next 5000 posts!
