Possibly Chameleon Tail Rot?

A couple months ago, my chameleon's hand tissue started to decay (as shown in first picture) . I posted in the forum and it was suggested that maybe he smashed it on something... He ended up shedding off his hand and this is shown in the second picture.

The third picture is of his tail now. Something is happening to his tail and it looks very similar to what happened to his hand. I'm starting to thing that he didn't smash it on something and that maybe it is a disease of some sort. I made an appointment at the vet, however, they can't see him until next week. Will it get worse before then? Can somebody tell me what is wrong with him? And/or how to fix it?!

Man that's sad to see. Does that a affect him in anyway? Is his balance and grip still in tact? I'm very curious about this?

I've seen this on a beardie. I believe it was from when the beardie shed it didn't complete and cut off circulation to his tail. But I don't know this could be bacterial on your guy?

The only thing that was an annoyance for him was before he shed, the nails on his dead hand would get stuck in his screen cage and he'd have to pry them out. But other than that, he's been himself! He is still able to keep his balance and can still grip things like the average chameleon ( just can't hold on as well b/c he is missing two of his nails). Honestly, it's as if he has no disability at all.

I was thinking that maybe it had to do with his shedding because he had just started shedding a day or two before I noticed blood on his cage from his tail... Do you know if it could get any worse and spread up his tail?

It usually just dies and rots off up to the point where the shed or pinch cut off circulation. But I'd still go to a vet for sure.

The tissue on the tail definitely looks necrotic- there are 2 vets on the forums, Dr. O and Ferretinmyshoes. You could send one of them a pm to look at this thread to see if there is anything you should do before your appointment. So sorry about your boy!

That's a great idea. Thank you so much!
