*Current Problem: He is sleeping a lot more now than when I got him. Is this bad?

The only changes I have made are adding a few new sticks, and I converted the pressure sprayer to a timed system. But I think the problem may be caused by this:
  • The temps here in Ohio are in the low 80's
  • therefore, I have turned off my a/c and have the windows/doors open to my apartment
  • which leads to his cage being at about the correct temp.
  • Because of this, I dont have a basking light on for him, Just his UVB bulb

Does he just think its night all the time so he sleeps, or is oversleeping a sign of a problem? Is oversleeping in any way bad?

How much sleep are you talking about? What time does he go to bed? What time does he get up? Is he napping in through out the day?

When i first got my cham he slept alot as well.........i think it is possibly an adjust kind of thing. But he also wouldnt eat or drink which lead to lack of energy.........therefore more sleeping. I would def turn his light back on. I know the temp is correct but he still probably wants a spot to bask in. Maybe you should take him to the vet to get a well cham check up just to make sure everything is ok with him. It shouldnt run you more than 50 unless they have to give him meds.

I had to give my cham neocal daily and make him eat a few bugs. After about a week he started eating and drinking on his own and stopped sleeping so much.

oh they also gave him a shot of water under his skin becasue he was kinda dehydrated from not drinking and eating

He goes to 'night' sleep around 9pm, wakes up around 8-9am. yesterday I noticed him asleep at 3pm and Im pretty sure he slept until normal time this morning. He was back asleep at 6pm this evening. he looks as if he is really starting to grow, and he is getting some really dark green colors (in comparison to the picture in my avatar from 2 weeks ago).

Im probably just paranoid.

edit. He is eating and drinking well. Which leads me to believe it is because the basking light is off.
Tomorrow Ill just raise up the light so it doesn't give up too much heat. If he starts staying awake, then that was the problem.

Normally they go to sleep when it gets dark and wake up when it gets light. He should not be sleeping through out the day.

I turned the light back on and he woke right up and started walking around, turned it off and he went back to sleep... I think he thinks its night time when the basking light is off.
