Chameleon Info:

Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
about 9 months of age, female veiled chameleon
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
once a day
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
i feed her 2 N. Cinerea bugs. I gutload them with fruits(fresh ones) and dry cat food.
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
I use reptimed multivitamin with aminoacids and D3. I dust one with the multivitamins and one without.
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
I use a drip system improvised from a perfusion system.
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
The fesces are fine and the urate was a little yelllow meaning she was a little dehydrated. She was tested twice for parasites and both came back negative.
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
She had pnemonya but me and my teacher treated her successfully.

Cage Info:

Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
She has a wood therarium with nice wide vents and plexiglass doors, wich i may add she enjoys very much.
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
I use a 40w spotlight bulb, no UVB so far(i expose her to sunlight as often as i can wich from what i researched is better than a uv bulb when authumn comes i will buy her a 10.0 UVB bulb).
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Tempreature is not a problem now since the room temperature is 28 during the day and drops to 20 during the night maybe higher.I measure the temp using a thermometer.
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
I currently don't have a hygomether but i will buy one as soon as i have some money. I mist twice a day so humidity is not a problem.
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
So far only ficus benjamin but i will put some spidergrass and some creeper plants later on.
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
The cage is located in my room, not much trafic nor is there too much air current there. She is at the height of about 70-80 cm.
Location - Where are you geographically located?
Romania, the climate is temperate continental/

Current Problem - I consulted the doctor and i think it's a possible egg retention, she displayed robin blue dots about a month and a half ago and when i took an x-ray i saw eggs 30 from what i could count more or less. And she still hasn't layed any eggs, her grip is a bit weaker but she eats and drinks water, but she is still lethargic and doesn't keep her eyes open all the time. My doctor recomended some ocytocine 1 unit per kg. I just want to hear your thoughts on this matter, do i really need to take her to surgery ? . She had the blue dots first time in mid june about 24 25 to be exact. Please give me an advice.
Ps sorry for the bad grammar.

i feed her 2 N. Cinerea bugs. I gutload them with fruits(fresh ones) and dry cat food.Cat food is a terrible gutload! It contains animal protiens which are harmful to insectivores.
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?

Since you found out she had eggs, did you provide a good sized laying bin? She will need a container at leasy 12 inches wide and deep filled with moist sand or soil. She may want to dig a few holes before she decides to lay and she needs total privacy. I'm going to gove you a link to jannb's blog about females and egg laying. Theres a great laying bin suggestion in there for females who are reluctant to lay.

Good luck! I hope she lays for you, please let us know how you get on :)

If she is already acting off, you may need the shot to induce laying. I would listen to your vet.

i'm taking her to the vet today, she is 2 weeks late already, i did everything by the book and still nothing, she is so fat and her grips is not as strong as it used to be, hope everything works out. i'll keep u guys up to date.

I'm so sorry that she's still having troubles :( You're doing the right thing taking her in again. Best of luck to you both!

Came back from the vet, this vet isn't specialized in surgery so i told her to administer 1 unit of occitocine per kg, and i got her back in her enclosure, and now we wait, God i hope everything will be ok, the nearest vet that has some experience is about 150 km away so this is the last option either that or i go Dr. House on her myself...(studying to be a vet).

Oh my! I feel for you! Our vet is not experienced with chameleons either but we have no option as we live on an island.

Sending good wishes your way :) hope the drugs work and she lays on her own.

Well a day has passed and still no eggs i fear for the worst, what bugs me is that she eats just fine, she has a huge appetite, drinks water, but is not that active....Howmuch can a veiled cham go w/o laying eggs (I mean how much can she be late)?

It's hard to say how many days they can go before they should have laid the eggs...but if she is sleeping during the day and showing other signs of decline and definitely has eggs in her, I wouldn't be air and too long to take her back to the vet.....they can go down hill quite quickly and become too weak to be helped.
