Possible burn?

Pickle is about 8-9 weeks old now and he has recently had his first shed.

I have noticed the tops of his spikes look a bit golden brown and I am worried this could be a burn.

He originally had a 100w basking bulb and his highest basking branch is about 12" away from the light and was giving a temp around 30-32°c, I have since replaced this with a 75w basking bulb which has bought the temp down to 27-28°c.

Please let me know what you think

Doesnt look like a burn, and the veil and spikes can turn all sorts of weird colors. Some owners go nutts when the eye ridges and veil turn grey.

If its a burn, it typically will be a bit swollen, and even oze a little.

I would be careful giving a baby a basking spot. He should be fine just getting really close(hanging upside down on the screen) to the fluorescent uvb bulb. As long as air temps are 26-27c during the day for a few hours you should be fine.

I know my chameleon has a burn. I have been putting some silvadene cream on it and it is not going away. She has been on the medicine for 8 days now. I am thinking about taking her to the vet if it still doesn’t get worse. My big questions:
1) is it infected?
2) does it look like it is healing?
3) how LONG do burns take to heal? Weeks? Months?

You will get way more replies if you start your own thread.

It does look like a burn.

It does not look infected(yet).

Chams are slow healers. But you should have seen some progress by now, since you haven’t it’s time for the vet.
