Possible back deformity?

Just rescued a little female Jackson cham from the same place I saved my male. I named her Miff but the only concern I had for her was that she had a weird deformity that the store owners knew nothing about, (didn't even know she was a female and alot of other poor practices were being preformed on her etc..poor baby) But her back is completely twisted up. in a very odd position. I couldn't let some unexperienced person take her home and try to rasie her up being that she is going to have eggs and they probably won't even know what to do or care to do it right. I'm quite concerned for her future though with laying eggs with this twisted back. What do you think may be the cause? I'm hoping not MBD and I'm thinking that probably wouldn't be the case, I'm thinking more along the lines of birth defect?? Any ideas? BTW the last pic i just threw in cause its cute.

It could be a birth defect. There was a thread awhile back about a chameleon with a very severe bend in the spine and ultimately that straightened out as he grew with the proper care. I just looked at it and all the pictures are gone though so I don't think it's as informative. I suspect you'll find that it improves with time.

Jackson's do not lay eggs. Occasionally they do produce infertile slugs, but unless she's been bred, you should not really have to worry about her becoming gravid. It's worth noting that chances are pretty good that she was kept with a male or several males at some point in the collection/shipping/storage process.

If she does seem to be putting on weight, she may be gravid. She could drop live babies at any time. I would be ready if you think she might be close. If you post a couple very close ups we might be able to guess. That is all it would be from me is a guess.

She looks too young and not gravid colors to me but I may be wrong

i assumed they laid eggs (silly me). but now that i found this out ive been looking up exactly how this works with them and i think i'm a lil better prepared in case she does have babies. i wonder if she could have babies soon!!! that would be a lil soon for me i'm not exactly ready but i'll figure it out. my boyfriend will help. She is beautiful! In an unconventional toad-like way... But gorgeous. I suspect that as you help her recover her colours will really bloom!

I hope so she is sooooo sweet. Thank you for the advice and help. I didn't really think she was grvid either because she is so young still, even tho they say at 5-6 months they are ready to breed!! Amazing i actually just finsihed watching a live birth on youtube. intresting stuff inna gross kinda cute way?
oh and mummy yes she is the cutest lil miff like toad i've ever seen. She needed a nice safe place to rest her head and she got it!! thank you

I've gone through two live births and wouldn't recommend it! I'd much rather lay a small egg, bury it and then forget about it... I watched some crested gecko eggs hatching on YouTube, very cool and I'm really looking forward to mine hatching! Having trouble resisting picking them up to check on them more than once a week!

I don't fully know how the whole mating thing works. Will a male stay off a female who's too young to show receptive colors? From what I've seen at shows, they aren't really very particular. If she was inappropriately engaged when she was young would she retain sperm? Hopefully someone who's really experienced will come along with answers.

Good question! With mine my female is too young and she let's the male know with hissing and what not and he stays clear haha but I would be curious to know I that is possible

There was a male Jackson's at a local pet store with the exact same issue. He didn't seem to be in pain, but his back was bent like that. Right where it connected to his torso. I'm not sure why I've only heard/seen Jackson's with this defect. It's odd.

Maybe it's from live birth..
