Poppy's test results came in

She has neopastic (cancerous) fibropapilloma. The vet said there was no evidence of viral involvement, however she said because chameleon metabolisms are slow it can be easy to miss viral involvement in them, so her tank is most likely going to have to be stripped (hopefully I won't have to worry about it for years). So i'm bummed out. It's not a death sentence, the vet said we can remove the growths (she said they may core out like the one on her head) if they get too big or bother her, but they won't stop developing, at its possible it could spread into her chest. Doing the surgery for the biopsy felt like a lot on her, so i don't know if I want to do it again. Luckily, none of the growths are particularly big or bothersome right now, and Poppy doesn't seem really affected by any of it.

Ive had tons of animals with benign growths under the skin, some quite large. Its just way too hard of them to get them removed. There is lots of swelling, drainage tubes(that need removed via vet trip a week later), antibiotics to prevent infections(the biotics also cause them issues).

We decided that unless its causing quality of life issues (face and neck mostly) we just let them be but monitor them on the yearly vet visits.

And chams have little flicker lives. Do you really want to do this to a 4.5 year old, that might only have 18 months of quality life left.

Luckily hers aren't under the skin, they're on top. But yeah I agree. They had to put her under for the biopsy and she was very stressed. The only one that was ever a problem was the first big one on her head and the vet was actually able to remove that with tweezers. I just feel bad that she's saddled with this. But I shouldn't really, because she doesn't seem to notice at all lol.
