Polychrus....monkey anoles...

kinyonga

Chameleon Queen
These are very interesting lizards...

The species I had was Polychrus Peruvianus. I did not find them hard to keep. The pair I had were WC adults when I got them...1.1.

I was told they were said insectivores but I found out they liked more fruit and veggies and greens than they did insects.

I also found that they seemed to reproduce (once a year only) readily if you rained on them. I kept the pair together except when the female was gravid and digging because the male would eat the eggs if he could.

The male had a real attitude about invasion of his cage and even after 12+ years of hand feeding him red pepper strips (his favourite), he would look at my thumb and then look at the red pepper trying to decide which to bite....did he want me out of the cage more or to eat more! I didn't give him a choice!
