Pneumonia

Hi my name is Logan and recently I found out that chams can get pneumonia the hard way. My poor Cham Pascal has pneumonia. The vet took him back to get an X-ray and they couldn't even see his guts because his lungs were so inflamed. I now have to give him antibiotics and force feed him for two weeks now. He wouldn't eat but he would drink water. He's very weak. I just want to know how in the world did it happen!

What kind of temps and humidity are you getting in your enclosure? Are you using glass or screen? Does your cage dry out between misitings? Is it constantly wet? Do you have substrate in the bottom? As far as I know respiratory problems are caused from bacteria which the chameleon breathes in. If your cage is too humid or too wet, it could cause problems for he air quality that your chameleon is breathing in. It would be best to go back into the health clinic section and fill out the ask for help form in detail.

I don't know the answers to most of these questions but when I most his habitat it's always dry and then it's a glass/screen habitat.

So you have no idea what kind of temps and humidity you are getting? Can you post some pics of the set up you are using??
