I am not sure ventlilation you are speaking of is for? Drainage? WHat do they look like?
It would really really help if you could post pics of the cage so we can get an actual picture of what you are describing and help you better.

My mom thinks Leo shedding is gross.. I like to taunt her with pics in her email. Ill title it, Grandkids and then put a pic of Leo eating a Roach. LOL!!!!

Hi Joe, You said you are getting a panther chameleon? Where are you getting it from. They are very expensive over here as they are really rare compared to the US and Canada. I have not seen one available for less than £250.

yeh i lost sleep on this lol . I live in the north-eat of england and there is not many good breeders close to me. I dont really no where to go when i am ready, i dont like it when the chameleons have to travel miles in a plastic box to get home

Joe where do you live? One of the members on here Piglet79 has had blue bar ambanja eggs recently and they are not due to hatch until around Aug so plenty of time for you to think. She lives in Leeds so dont know whether thats anywhere near you. They WILL be expensive though and iv heard not as easy to look after as a veiled so make sure your parents know whats involved too

And UVB only reaches 6-8 inches and will not go through glass or plastic.

This depends on the type of lamp being used and the type of screen.

And UVB will not go through glass or plastic... unless you buy specific plastic that is meant for UVB transmission. This kind of plastic is not cheap and is NOT included with any kind of UV lamp you might buy at a petshop.

Ok well good luck anyway. Just be careful if buying from a petshop. The guys on here will be able to tell you how bad they are over the water and they aint any better over here. I once saw a veiled being kept in what looked like a fish tank with bark on the floor and a log to sit on, no plants

right i have got some questions lol.
the top of my cage is wood so lots of members said i should change is and put something like mesh in it, sounds quite sensible since the chameleons need ventilation and uvb rays.

also (also) ((also)) what do you do for drainage??? or is that ventilation. beacuase i would of thought that you would need something at the bottom of the cage to catch the dripping watter of leavs

Thats why a pic would be helpful if you could do it. You say you have 2 ventilation spots at the bottom of your cage? Are they just open holes or piping or screening? I do not have a cage with drainage so I dont know. I use garbage bags underneath my cage to help the water. There is a thread that I believe I linked either in this one or the other that is called Drainage. You can also use the search tab at the top right of the main screen and type Drainage to get an idea of what you need.

Yes, you need something in the top of the cage to allow UVB light in.
