Please Help!

Hello, this is my first post on Chameleon Forums so sorry If I post this in the wrong place. So heres my question

Can you feed a chameleon freeze dried crickets? I have a baby captive bred common chameleon.

Thanks,

If he's hand-fed tamed, you could probably entice him into eating it by wiggling it between your fingers. I'm not sure of the nutritional value that a frozen cricket would have? Can you not get live feeders locally? If not, I'd jump online real quick and get some ordered...

edit* what is a common cham? Veiled?

A common chameleon is a medium sized chameleon found around in the middle east. I have live crickets but was just curious as to whether I should get pre killed or live ones

Thanks,

P.S he's very tame, whenever I open his cage door he hops on my hand!

First of all, welcome to the forum! Second, you posted in the right place but if you didn't, someone would help you out and move it to the right place for you. But, getting it right saves them the work. :)

I heard that live and wiggling are the best feeders since you can gutload them with fruits and veggies, etc. that go right into your cham and I'm not sure about the frozen or dried bugs as feeders. I do know that if you read sandrachameleons blogs on feeders and nutrition, you will do wonderful things for your cham no matter what kind it is.

This is the most important thing. Some chams will eat 'dead' food - but what really counts is what the food eats. Live insects are best because you know what they've eaten. Here is one of sandras gutloading blogs - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/75-feeder-nutrition-gutloading.html
