my 1 1/2 year old veiled chameleon was shedding and we took a little bit of his shedded skin off near his spikes on his back. but when that happened, not realizing it, it also took a few of his spikes off with it.

I feel absolutely HORRIBLE about it because taking off a piece of the skin I never intended to hurt the poor angry lizard. but I wanted to know what to do so that it won't get infected? i really don't know what to do at all... and also is it possible his spikes will grow back?

he's not acting strange or anything he's acting normal and ate and everything, I just feel really bad.. please let me know ASAP! thank you!

Howdy,

Please post a few clear, well-focused photos of the area in question. The area may be burned by basking temps being too high. It may also be some sort of microbial activity that damaged the area.

If the spikes really came off, they won't grow back.

The area will likely heal on its own. A vet might prescribe Silvadene to put on the area as an antibiotic.
