Please help

I purchased my first chameleon about four weeks ago and everything was going smoothly. About 6 days ago I noticed a half centimeter piece of some sort of a string coming from his eye. I removed the string once he was asleep and the total length was about an inch long. Since then he has been eating and acting like usual but the eye has been barely open and he’s been cleaning it a lot more than usual. I really need some advice!!

Do you have any pictures of the string? Do you have substrate at the bottom of your enclosure?

Do you think it was an actual string that somehow got in there or something that formed in the sinuses or something?

It was an actual string that got into his eye. It is about an inch long and the diameter of a strand of hair. It’s also black and rigid. I can’t get a picture right now because I’m at work but I’ll have one up here soon to help y’all help me

Weird. Their eye opening is so small its amazing that it got in there. All I can think of (short of a vet) is extra misting so he can keep rinsing.. Is he on an auto mister? The finer the mist the easier it is on the eyes. if you are hand misting I recommend the pump sprayers. They are $4 at dollar general in the garden section. They spray much finer (and faster) than the trigger spray bottles.

I don’t have substrate, i use carpet. Here is the string. It’s about 3 centimeters when stretched out
