Please help. I don't know what to do I came home from work and my Jackson's chameleon was hanging at the bottom of his terrarium. Front and back feet still clinging on but he was turned side ways and at the bottom to where his tail was out all the way on the bottom of the terrarium. And his eyes closed shut. They look a little sunken in as well. I didn't know what to do so i picked him up and put him on a wet towel just in case his terrarium is not humid enough. I live in shitty Las Vegas and it's dry as hell.. I spray his plants and everything prob 2-3 times a day. I have a dripper and i just leave it dripping 24/7. I don't have anything on the bottom of his terrarium because moss gets gross after only a couple days and it doesn't really keep his terrarium as humid as it should. I layed him on his vine thing about 30min ago. He still won't open his eyes but he's breathing but not moving at all and when I went to check on him again i touched his tail and he just started walking extremely slow wouldn't open his eyes just feeling the air around for somewhere to step. Why won't his eyes open? Is he dehydrated? Is he dying? He wasn't like this yesterday.

Jax do need a LOT of water and higher humidity. Are his eyes sunken in? Are his urates yellow or orange?

The dripper is good, but his overall humidity levels may be too low. This causes chronic low level dehydration and is very hard on internal organs. For now, keep him in a humid bathroom (run the shower to make steam), and give him lots of mistings.

The bare bottom is good - keep it that way. But given the climate, your Jax likely needs more humidity. You need a cool mist ultrasonic humidifier. Don't cheap out - get an Air-O-Swiss brand 1 gallon. Expensive, but it will last you more than a couple of months (trust me, I've bought ALL the brands. For long term use, the cheap Walmart ones are a waste of money). You can use plastic tubing to run the mist right into the cage or just direct the mist through the screen. You should consider covering 2 sides of the screen cage too - this will help with humidity (assuming you have a screen cage, you say terrarium, so is it a vented glass enclosure?). You may also want to invest in an automated misting system that can run for really long periods - I run my mistking 5 times a day with a 15 minute session each morning. It helps with humidity and my Jax takes forever to drink and clean his eyes.

This is all assuming that dehydration is the problem. Could you fill out this form so we have all the info to help you?

Also, do you have a vet that is experienced with chameleons?
