Plastic lumber?

Hi all i am in the process of designing Mr jangles a new cage and came across plastic lumber, they claim that it's:

# Water resistant
# Rot resistant
# UV resistant
# Insect and bacteria resistant

it also comes in several colors so there would be no need to stain and is similar in price to the poplar that i was originally going to use.

My main concern is, even though they claim its bacteria resistant would left over water from misting etc still contribute to bacteria growth?

I want my panther to be as healthy as possible and would like to do it right the first time.

Sounds cool. Two questions though. Who sells it? And how is it cut in order to fit the way you want?

I have built decks and exterior stairs with the stuff...and lets just say I like real wood. I also make things for the zoo here in Toledo and they wanted me to use it....it faded and cupped like wood and there is no spine to a lot of it......very floppy. Use stainless fasteners with it. In most cases its more expensive than wood.

The place i found is plasticlumberdepot.com, and after reading the last post i am a little worried about the "floppyness" of the lumber, i want the cage to be sturdy without have to have a hundred braces on it. I think what i will do is go take a look at the stuff and then make my decision. also the cage will be inside so i'm not too worried about the color fading.

The cage will be approx 3x2x5, i will most likely be building 4 separate frames using 1 1/4 x 3 and some 1 1/4 x6 at the top and bottom to help a bit with humidity the rest of the cage will be screen with a upper and lower door at the front for my husbandry.

I haven't decided on a color yet, I wonder what Mr jangles would pick if he could talk?

Well keep the urban legend in mind! Chams will DIE if you put them in a plaid environment! They just don't know what color to be and they have a super freak out! lol
