Plants & chemicals

I just bought a Hibiscus plant. Im going to change the soil to eco soil and wash the plant a couple of times. Does that take away the chemicals or do I need to do something else before my cham can eat the Hibiscus. How do you get rid of chemicals from new bought plants?

Washing the plant and repotting it will get rid of most chemicals. If you can, ask the store where you bought the plant whether their nursery uses systemic pesticides (chemicals that are absorbed by the plant as it grows). These can take several months for the plant to get rid of.
