Plant soils: confused

Hi there,

I am researching the cage construction and setup. I read quite often that sand, and other items could be ingested by the cham when it is after food.

So, since pretty much everybody has a live plant in the cage, in a pot, how do we account for danger of eating something bad?

Some place those flat smooth river rocks on top of the exposed soil to prevent this, you can also sift the soil real well to filter out any large pieces so that if anything ever did get ingested you'd be left with just plain black earth so it would just come out as poo instead of staying stuck (assuming you're using clean safe soil with no fertilizers)
