Plant problem?

Hi, I have had a sick yemen male chameleon for about a year now, I rescued him from a pet shop (he looked dead when I found him and asked them if I could have him and see if I could get him back on his feet). I did. Anyway about 6 months ago he developed a swollen casque and swollen eyes, I posted it on here around that time which some said looked to be a deficiency of something, so I upped everything (minerals/food/gut loading etc). This improved him a bit but these symptoms didn't go away. My advice from the vet wasn't very helpful either who also agreed that it looked perhaps to be a mineral deficiency or a problem with the UV light (which I also changed).

I had a thought this morning, he eats a lot of the ficus plant leaves...could this be a reaction to that? Should I buy plastic plants instead?

Hope someone can help..

Ficus sap can cause irritation but not sure if it would cause swelling like he has. I wouldn't change to plastic especially if he likes eating leaves. You could change to a different type plant or get a clip and try offering collard greens instead.

I suggest looking for a nice hibiscus. They are perfectly fine for chams but need a bit more sunlight/grow lights.

I've heard that if they are over weight it shows in their casque but he doesn't look heavy in the pic. I don't believe it causes eye swelling though. Sorry just don't have much help there.
