plant hanging tips - Help!!! Experts Needed

Alright panther experts, I've got my first cham on the way, thanks Bruce at Chameleon Paradise. So here is the issue. I have a reptibreeze 18x18x36 and purchased a pothos hanging plant - smallest available. not sure the size of the pot but its about 6-7 inches wide and almost the same deep. no way I can tie it to the top of the screen as it would surely be too much weight. Do I need to split it up into smaller pots? What size? How do you all do it?

I laid a 2x2 piece of wood that is a little longer than the width of the Reptibreeze and screwed a plant hook through the screen into the wood. My 2x2 holds 2 small pothos one on each end. I also attached my mister nozzle to the hook for stability!

I did the same, have a piece of 2x2 wood across the top as the anchor for hanging plants.

Im not an expert by any means. But I had an issue with the same set up. I did end up splitting the plant in half and securing it to the corners of the cage. And staggered the heights on them

I actually seen a video on you tube about it "two level pothos plant for my panther chameleon" .

The set up works nice for me havnt had any issues at all and my plants are doing great.

I will try to take a picture tomorrow, Gleek is sleeping now. That is why I used a 2x2 instead of a 2x4. His home is 24x24x48 so I have six more inches than you.

I used a piece of 1/2 inch electrical conduit cut long enough to rest on the frame. I then used plastic coated garden wire to make a loop by going through the screen and around the conduit, leaving a small amount of slack on the inside of the cage to use as a loop. I made several passes,through different holes in the screen, because I wanted to make sure it would be secure. I got the idea from previous posters here. That way if I want to change things up, I can, because there's no damage to the screen, and the 1/2 inch conduit doesn't take up a lot of room, and is sturdy enough.

In my opinion, there is no need to place anything across the top of the cage, other than lighting, for most setups.

What you need, is a few "cup hooks". That is what they are called. They are for hanging coffee cups and such, and are just small hooks, that are threaded on one end. Similar to one that are used for hanging plants and such.

Take 3 or 4 or whatever you need, and screw them directly into the top of the frame, inside the cage.

Then, remove the plastic hanger that comes with most hanging plants.

In the holes that the plastic hanger clicked into, tie some 550 cord, or similar material, then tie a small loop at the other end of the cord. Place this loop over the hook, and...vois là!!!

You now have a sturdy plant, ready to be romped all over by your chameleon.

Using 550 cord is great, it comes in many colors, and can be safely used by the chameleon for climbing. It also wont wear out any time soon.

This pothos is fairly large, and is hanging by 3 hooks:

You can see that the hooks also double for hanging misting lines. They can be very useful inside the cage.
