About two months ago I added a money tree and not long after noticed some of the small, green balls. I pinched one between my index and thumb and it broke like a chicken egg, dispensing a clear liquid.

Yes its slow release fertilizer. I rinse all the dirt off my plants to get them out... its tricky as they get stuck to the roots sometimes

Its compressed fertilizer covered in a plastic shell.

I would not chance if, if real children like to eat them, im sure the scale ones will too. Cover with some real top soil, then gavel too big to eat. This also keeps feeders from making nests in the soil.
