Pink Blob

Veiled Cham101

Okay so I have a male veiled chameleon. He has a pink thing on the end of his butt. I think it is his gland, and I was wondering how to get it back in. He looks really nice and calm to me, and his handler looked him over. He says that it is his gland.

P.S. this came is Rex the veiled chameleon and he doesn't have that bone disease!!!

I do not have any experience with this- but I have read on the forum- KY jelly to keep it moist, sugar water to help it shrink and go back in- if this fails keep it moist and a VET is NECESSARY ASAP

Most likely it is some type of prolapse(when the private part or an organ falls out of the vent) and not a gland! If it is, then I just learned something new!!!! Please post some pictures that are more clear for everyone to see what is going on.

Could be bowel or hemipenal prolapse either way I would get him vet help asap. You need to use the ky to keep it moist as suggested though. This is a serious issue and you dont want to wait. They will have to amputate the tissue if it dries out and isnt reinserted quickly. The bad thing is after one prolapse it can happen again.

karmachameleon resently had this same problem it could also be a sperm plug.

Yes that is a better picture and yes that is a prolapse. Please call a reptile vet asap. Let us know how it goes and do keep it moist as mentioned before. The sooner you get to the vet the better the chances are of a small issue not becoming a very major one.

Hey guys it was sperm build-up. We took him to a vet Thursday, Jan. 12, 2011. They put him up-side down, took twezers, and pulled out two sperm thingys. It was gross, and now he has a sore butt! Sorry if TMI, but I just wanted to let you guys know!!!
