Frita has a work in appt at 2:15 and we find out what is going to happen with her tongue. Here are some pictures. Can you tell me what you think please, and if she has in fact swallowed part of it. She is not eating. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1392655015.938936.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1392655028.620858.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1392655041.670333.jpg

Look's like she may have swallowed part of it. Is a work in appt. the same as a vet appointment? I have never heard of that terminology. Hopefully the vet is able to pull the tongue out before the stomach acids cause and serious damage.

Poor little mite. Hope the appt goes well I think it looks like she did swallow it, but I'm not going to say definitely. As I'm not experienced enough.
I just wanted to say what a sweet girl, letting you open her mouth. Testament to how much she trusts you. Good luck.
Kath.

Hey guys. She swallowed it. She has surgery in the morning at 9am. She swallowed the long part of it. They pulled it out, cleaned it with some anti-acid wash and gave a anti inflammatory. My only other option was the after hours clinic who have zero Cham experience. Please keep her in your prayers.

Hope everything goes well. Feeding a chameleon with a tongue injury takes patience. Definitely easier for the ones without horns.

I sure will

Well she re swallowed it. It's 10 pm. 9 pm just can't come fast enough. I swear this is just weird. The vet didn't believe me either. Then he saw and was like holy crap, she swallowed it. And I was like, uh yeh?! I remember reading about it so long ago on here, never could of imagined it would happen to me. But I swear it's a hobby that keeps you on your toes. Our beardie arrives tomorrow. My husband will be here and I'll be with my Frita . I have not tried to remove her tongue tonight. She needs to rest . Tomorrow is going to be a traumatic day. Thanks for the positive thoughts and prayers. We came to this bridge and now we'll cross it. I am staying positive. It's gonna be fine.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1392734340.359553.jpg I took this right before she went back. The doctor is going to try to save the tongue now. He is removing it again. And starting her on liquid calcium in hopes the extra calcium might help and giving fluids.

Update-they can't get it out this time. They have to sedate her. He is consulting with the zoo Atlanta vet first to see if he will come in. They are keeping her until they talk to a few more specialist as well. The waiting is killing me. They sent me home, I'm sitting in my car, I don't want to leave her--but they said they will call once they know for sure what the plan of action is. He said let's not rush the decision yet on her fate. And to weigh all options, and he wants to consult all the herp vets he knows. So that is good I guess. I told him to just get the tongue out of her stomach, even if it means sedating her. I want it out.
