Phoenix Worms

Has anyone heard of and used Phoenix worms? On their website they sound like a great food but I want to know if anyone has actually tried them for their chameleon and if they are credible or not?

I have 6 containers right now. They are a good food for chams, but not a daily staple. A full grown one is only about 1 inch.

I use them. L.B. does not seem very enthusiastic about them. He eats them... sometimes at least. I think they are worth a try. I might try again with a larger size next time.

I think there called Calci worms over here in the UK.. My cham loves them, and rather nutritious apparently!

They are just solder fly larvae fed with some uber secret proprietary, "not gonna share the recipe" blend of stuff you can probably find around your house. I might try to culture solder flies. Not 100% sure on that yet.

Phoenix worms are supposed to be full of calcium, I give them to Calais, I have a jar in the fridge right now. I give him a few with his roaches every other day. They are great if I leave them in the fridge, but I can't stand when they turn into soldier flies because they look like hornets.

Ohh.. I don't do flies! How do ya kno when there gonna change, I'll be sure to get rid of them before then! Lol
on another note about worms, my cham ate a normal garden worm earlier.. I doubt there very nutritious but anyone think there'll be a problem?

Garden worms can carry parasites so watch out for runny or smelly poop or any changes to his behavior.

and if you keep them in the fridge they shouldn't change. But if you don't usually within a couple weeks.

Do they do ok in the fridge? The packaging says they cannot exceed 50F. My cheese fridge stays about that warm but I do not want maggots in with my cheeses. I spent a lot of time making them....

I think they go into a semi comatose state.. Just need a bit of heat to revive them :)
