Phoenix worms. Ugh...

Ok, is there a easier way to get these things out of the mushy saw dust they come in without crushing them? It says to let them dry out, but they are still covered in it when I let them sit. There has got to be an easier way.

Use tweezers to pick them out of the sawdust, drop them in a deli container, shake/roll them around good to knock the sawdust off...then feed. Always works for me and only takes a few seconds.

I use a screen collander and rinse them off under warmish water. I don't keep them in the sawdust stuff either. I dump the container into the collander, rinse them off and put them into a smaller critter keeper then put either baby food fruit/veggies or over ripe fruit/veggies on top of them. They eat and eat and get really big and fat! About an inch long and 1/4 inch wide! When I feed them to my cham I scoop them out with a slotted spoon, dump them into the screen collander again, rinse them under really warm water, dump them on paper towels to dry them off and then dump them into a shallow dish to feed the boys. It sounds time consuming but it really isn't. Once I dump them in the critter keeper I don't do anything with them until I need to feed them off. I buy them on ebay from the seller rainbowmealworms. I get 300 for about $21. They ship fast and the worms are very healthy and active.

I got butter worms which are better and way easier to work with i sell them pretty cheap

I just toss them into a plastic shoebox filled with water when i'm cleaning my soldier fly larvae from sawdust or anything else. Sawdust floats. the maggots can be sorted out. They don't drown when submerged for very long periods of time. They come out nice and clean.
