PETG 3 d printing safe for chameleons?

I waa thinking buying a tray to make the cages bioactive. I was thinking about using PETG 3 d printing. Is 3d printing safe at all for chameleons? thinking about fumes chemical reactions and when is in contect with water and soil?

I think 3D printing is a bit under studied, but I have heard of reptile owners making their own baby enclosures and cage pieces with them.

It's still experimental; but theoretically, PETG is food safe for humans, and heat resistant. Perfect for an enclosure.

Although, it's not a tray for a bioactive bottom, this is a good topic on 3D printing for chameleon enclosures.

I guess my question is, is your cage custom made too? Can you not buy a bioactive soil bag to accomplish the same idea?

Not trying to knock 3D printing, I actually think it's brilliant. But it seems like a lot of work for a soil tray, unless you're trying to market the design too.

No, I was thinking about using acrylic or plexy glass but are too expensive and tehn saw someone printing water tray so I may comission one. I dont know what those are. But I searching for something sturdy and that looks good too.

As stated, you can eat off PETG and it has a high eat tolerance. However if you make a bird house out of it, the sun will destroy it in a season. Outdoor PETG needs to be painted.

Yup. It will get very brittle. Kinda like if you use non uv stable zip ties. But plenty of people use wood painted in urethane just fine in cham cages. So you could use that.
