Ok i still havnt gotten my first cham but i want to know if i buy crickets at petco how long do they last a week? a month? (btw theyre called live crickets i dont think it had a cirtain amount)

a few questions how much crickets do you get regularly and where do you get them and how long do they last a month? a week?

It all depends, if you have a container to put them in and feed/gutload them they could last a week or two. Depending on how big your new cham is going to be, they might grow to large to fast for it. Crickets can be hard to keep alive and/or breed.

i believe crickets only live a total of 7-8 weeks...i think the large ones are 11 cent at petsmart and 12 cent at petco...i buy mine by the 1000 and that usually lasts me 3-4 weeks or so (i think it averages out to like 2 cent each), but my 4 chams range from 4 months to a year and a half...if you have a younger cham you would have to worry about the crickets getting too big before you feed them all off...look around and see what works for you

It's best to buy them online- they are wayyyy expensive if you buy them local. Here a dozen crix costs about 1.50$ but you can order them online for 23$ shipped for 1,000.

Full adult crix should last about a month. Younger crix should last their life span - 8-12 weeks minus however old they are when you buy them.

Also make sure you look into gutloading. That's important to their health and your chams.

They will last you for a while some will die off, but that happens. The prices aren't bad for me because I get charged like $5 a box with half of them dead... So I say go for it, if you don't want to order off the internet.. Also, make sure that you chameleon(s) can swallow them.

IMO, there is nothing wrong with Petco's crickets, but they're somewhat expensive, and I'm sure if you bought them from somewhere like Mulberry Farms they would have a hardier stain to ship you, and feed them better.

I only bought them from Petco because when I had a leo, it was convinient, and I didn't know you could order crickets online (or anything live for that matter xD).

go to petco sign up for a petpals card(free) crickets will be 11 cents not 12 and i think petco is a much nicer place, not a fan of petsmarts reptile care. if you order in bulk online 90% of the time you'll get a crap load of dead ones. i buy 100 at a time

I usually just go to my local reptile shop and buy 100 crickets for 5 bucks. my cham usually scarfs them down within a week and i usually never find any dead in their container. just give em enough food and water then boom you and your cham are good.

I disagree. When I bought from pet stores (either of them) half would die within the first week regardless of size or care. I order by the hundreds from online vendors and in the last 20 or so orders I have never had even one dead in the box. And they last for over a month with like 1% loss, even at the large sizes.

I never have luck getting mine from Petsmart or Petco, I ask for smalls and get about 50% mediums/larges and have to remove them.

I go to the smaller, local petshops. I found one that has consistent sizes finally, and they seem to live a little longer.
