I thought it would be fun to have a little pet Mantis at my desk here at work. I still need to read about them since I don’t know much about there life. I was just curious if anyone has taken care of one or am I being lame and should just get a beta fish or a pet rock.

I haven't kept one, but I've done research on it with plans to do the same thing. They're pretty easy really. They like the usual room temp. so it might be good to use a small screen cage or a big critter keeper. They need things to climb on, so clean some sticks off and put them in there, or maybe pot a small plant. They can eat crickets, which you probably already have for your cham(s). :)

I had one living loose in my house for a few weeks, he just ate any houseflies and beetles that got in.

ive kept them before they are easy just feed them 3 med crix every other day depending on the size you can switch the size of crix

Alex must've had a monster mantis. I've kept mantis very healthy on 2 crickets per week! They are not much to look at during the day because their predatory behavior is SIT STILL...WAIT TILL SOMETHING WALKS BY...STRIKE! Anyways, you should do it for a week or two. If you get bored of him, you know who would love to eat him...;)

I'll have some mantis with me up in Sacramento for the show. Think it's the 18th and 19th of Sept.. A week after the Anaheim show. I bring in a few dozen to work with me everyday to feed and mist. Co-workers seem to dig them, and I've given one person nightmares, :D after viewing the little aliens I keep. So be careful in the work place. Some people really freak out when they see a bug.
