Payton the Pygmy passed away

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. These little guys are charmers. Hopefully, his offspring will bring you much joy.

Oh Stefan, I am so sorry you lost Payton. :( Chams really do leave a large hole in your heart when they leave us, I remember the sadness all too well. I hope the memorial goes ok. Thinking of you, love Tiff xx

Memorial

Well the memorial went ok. I started crying and i felt that burying a chameleon...is harder then any pet that someone will need to bury. I have had 3 hamsters and really never felt this way about them when they died. Chameleons just know how to put that spell on you.

So i woke up and went and dug up the hole, put him and his little box in, an covered up.Here are some pictures. In one of them you can actually see him. Sorry if you will be grossed out but i just thought it would be the last picture this forum will ever see of him and it would be nice for us to treasure this loss. Especially me.

1st picture-Is off him before covering up. You can see him because the box he was in was clear.
2nd picture-His peaceful grave.
3rd picture-His tombstone i made for him.

RIP Payton. Luna and Piglet are already looking for you.

Oh Stefan, that is lovely. You have set me off now. It is so true what you said about the death of a cham hitting harder than any other pet. I felt the same way with Lily. I think it's because they need a lot more specialised care than other pets that makes them so special and you really form a bond with them. Thank you so much for being strong enough to share the pics with us. RIP little Payton. He was such a tiny l'il cutie-pie!

It is sad. I just hope i get at least 1 male from him and hopefully he got Luna pregnant again as she is looking fat. He was an amazing little guy..and my first pygmy. I will never forget the ride home with him from Daytona.

Your welcome for the pics and right now it was raining for 5 minutes after i finished the memorial and now it just stopped. I think everyone in the Pet Heaven was very sad;(

Stefan you are a wonderful, strong person for sharing this with us. Payton had a great life with you and a wonderful Memorial and I'm sure he knew how special he was. :(

Clea-I am very sorry to hear about Payton. One of my favorite memories is how excited you were in Daytona at the booth when Mike hooked you up with that pygmy. He was WC-so you did great with him for almost a year. Payton taught you alot! :)

No-I think at that point Mike was trying to talk your Dad into taking home a Veiled too-and your Dad was done being at the show! :)

I am sitting here reading all the posts bawling my eyes out. Hope no tears drip on the keyboard. I have enjoyed sharing piggy stories with you and I know it will continue. Sure don't know why the little things have the biggest tug on our heart strings.

See you soon. (Hopefully I will be done crying)

Im sorry Naomi. We just need to stay positive, We can talk about it later when i come over. It will be ok.

See you soon

Just thought i would share that i just went and visited Payton's grave for the 50th time. Some may think oh its just a pygmy but its NOT. Its an animal that deserves as much respects as dogs and cats and any other pet.

So i took a picture of his little grave with flowers and set it as my phone wallpaper. RIP Payton
