Hi, I'm Elisa, an Italian girl and i wanted to take a pair of calura parsonii, but first I wanted to build a beautiful terrarium, and i need many informations..can you help me?
I know that they need a significant temperature change during the night to get to 13-14 * C in Italy the summer nights are hot and you wanted to know how can I get cool air in the terrarium? There Are small air conditioners?
How big terrarium?
Which lamps i need?
Thanks a lot!

A pair of parsons, you are one lucky girl. Wish I could have even one. And in Italy too. I visited San Sepulcro and Monterchi a few years ago for bike riding. Lots of fun, you live in a wonderful, friendly country. Hope to go back some day.

I would suggest going with an easier species at first also. Not so much because they are expensive but more because parsonii are rare and should go into the hands of experienced keepers.
I'm new to chameleons, I just started with 2.2 Nosy Faly panthers. After a year or more of keeping these guys, I will consider getting parsons chameleons. I want them now!, but knowing they are so rare, I would rather wait until I am more experienced.
So, I'm just saying, if you are new to chameleons then it would be beneficial to both you and the chameleons to gain some experience working with a less rare/specialized species first. Probably not the advice you want though.

I think that is wonderful, a pair of parsons will be lovely. If you are getting adults they will need a lot of space. my friend who keeps parsons has them in a 217cm x 217 cm x 217 cm. That is for each parson, he does not keep more that one in an enclosure. He has open air screen cages.
Here is a link to a terrarium made for a parsons by one of out members. His is very customized, not what most of us would make, but is will give you size ideas. Hope it helps.

Hello,
if you´re a beginner you should absolutely not get any parson! I keep one myself so i can tell they are very difficult to keep and will die very soon if you make any mistake!
Firt: they need night-temperatures of about 20°C in summer, the temps you mentioned are only for wintertime.
Air-conditioner won´t be of any help as they produce more warm air than that they cool it down.
I´ll send you a private message so we can talk about this better.

if these are your first chameleon i would reccomend NOT to do parsonii as you would cause more damage to that species than you would think (they are notoriously hard to breed and take around 2 years to hatch) i have been into chameleons for over 15 years now and am still deathly afraid to get a pair of parsons, not that they cost $2500.00 per animal, but that if one did die, that is just making this animal closer to extinction from my mistakes (there is a reason they are no longer imported to the u.s.a.)..IF you do however have a vast experience in parsons go for it!!! otherwise all the money in the world wont keep them alive or teach you a damn thing about the care involved for these very rare and beautiful exotic animals.

Parsonii aren't my first chamaleo,i have pair Of ambilobe, pair Of lateralis lateralis and pair Of bradipodyon.
Lateralis' female is pregnant!!!!

Okay, that´s better than nothing, for how long do you already keep those?
Which information did you already get about parsons?

Thank you for all tour replay.
I have these for 2years.
And i want know standard measure Of terrarium,if they want special lamps and what temperature they need

Hello,
i´ll also discuss this with you via pm, but i want everybody else to read this so i´ll post it.
Parsons require changing cages while they grow.
You need to start with a small full-screen-cage of about 45cm*45cm*45cm, otherwise you will have problems with giving them water to drink, which they need a LOT.
Also parsons are pretty shy, so they won´t take any food when disturbed in the beginning so you need a small cage to make sure they get as much of the provided food as possible.
Day temperatures must not exceed 26°C for longer periods and nighttime temperatures must be about 20°C. 'That´s for the summer.
In the wintertime they need day temperatures of about 20°c and night temperature of 12-15°C. If you can not give them those temperatures, they will stop drinking very fast.
That´s just a few of the problem you need to face when keeping a young parson, there´s a lot more!

Welcome to the chameleon forums. I am new to parson's and just got my first back in April. There's an older thread on here that you might find helpful that I'll link below.

This is the room I keep my two year old male in most of the time. It’s 8 high by 9 long and 4 wide.

Thanks for the link, i knew there was something like that on here ;)
Room looks quite good, how do you get air circulation in there?

I guess you have a big air conditioner and not one of those small ones.
BTW your room would be better with more big plants the cham can climb on, most of the ones you already have are not very suited for a heavy parsonii either because they have no horizontal branchen or because those are too thin.

The picture above is from when my husband first built the room. We have constantly updated and added more plants, vines and branches. See an update below from July. We ran an AC vent from our house and he also has a large window unit to keep him cool in our hot south Florida weather.

Musmus, for his summer temps I keep him at 78 in the day time with a basking area of 82 to 84 and 68 at night. I will have to drop his temps for this winter.

DeremensisBlue, the flat screen TV comes next. ;)

Seeco, thank you!

Nice remodel.

Wonder If I can get the hubby to put a sunroom extension on the back of the house....;) Already have the flat screen.
