Parsonii differents that panthers?

Hello! So im not awesome with Madagascar chameleons lol;) but i wonder.. where exactly parsonii comming from and why the parsonii husbandry so different that a panthers?

Madgascar is a very varied island. Like the US, or anywhere else really. There is mass humid forests on the east, drier deciudus forests of the north, and even areas that are desert climates.

Parsonii are from Eastern Madgascar, depending on the species, sets the locale. The majority of the east (outside of the coast) is Humid Forests.

They are found in the Humid Forests, where it is cooler, rains alot more, and has alot more dense foliage.

Panthers, vary greatly. There is Panthers found in places like Ambilobe, and Ambajana, these areas are in the Diana region. Much less rainfall, and the Panthers are found in forest outskirts, and lower lying brush. So hotter temps, less humidity and less water.

There is however Panther Locales that are found in areas where Parsonii are found. So I personally believe a Panther would be fine, kept in Parsonii conditions, however vice versa doesn't apply. Panthers are alot more lenient when it comes to conditions.

That's simplifing it alot, but answers the question, well enough I think :).

This is a good resource to check it out some more in depth.

https://www.madcham.de/en/

They will show you climate data, information about species and locales of Malagasy Chameleons, and weather data, and Photos (even 360 view photos, kind of like VR). To help show you the differences.

They also break up Panthers by Locale, to show you how much of a variance in environment different locales live in.

I believe we had one keeper here who said "i setup for my parsons, the panthers can just deal with it" :)

Was that you? Who said that?

I would agree with it, I have often questioned what divided Panthers like Cap Est that reside with Parsonii vs Ambilobes who do not.

Obviously Cap Est are white, but Manarama (I don't think I spelled that right) are not.

So if they are just, as dubbed "Locales" and not a varying species, than we do see Panthers living with Parsonii seemingly just fine.

I think it may have been James . Wish he was more active I understand why however !.

Seems likely, me and James have discussed in lenght, of that very theory, of if Cap Est, Manarama, Tamitave are just locales, and not a separate species, then their is zero reason that a panther could not be treated like a Montane.

That was a theory we had, but keep close to the vest for the most part, or at least I do, as we had only educated guesses and no science to back that up. (Aside from the fact those "Locales" share a micro climates, with Parsonii)

thanks both of you :) I wonder if we just didn't take care or our panther correctly
