Panther - STRANGE behavior

:confused:I have a male panther who is a little over a year old. He has not been well lately. I have had him at the vet, and he is currently on antibiotics. He is much better than when I took him to the vet; no longer lethargic, both eyes open and awake all day, however today he did something that really freaked me out. Wondering if anyone has seen this with their own cham or heard of a similar story.

Something was off with his balance. He couldnt stay on top of a branch like he typically does. His body kept turning left, he would curl his body, turn his head to the left and curl around toward his tail area. When i put him back in his cage, he would rotate under the branches and hang upside down. I was running a shower for him b/c it usually perks him up if something is off, but as i took him back out of the cage he was able to steady himself, so i just put him back in his cage so he could get his bearings.

He has been alright since. It happened at about 11 this morning, and its now 3:30. Any Ideas about what could have been going on. My reptile vet is closed today so I cannot get any help from them until tomorrow.

Yes, he has been ok. I mean he wasnt moving around his cage as much as usual, but yea, no more of the weird turning left or flipping upside down

I have a female panther that has had a seizure 2 times and acted identically to what you described after she stopped seizing. I took her to the vet and they did every test imaginable and came up with no definitive answer. The vet said heat stroke can case seizures but my temps were mid seventies and basking was 82, she was well hydrate, well fed, and ate well. She is fine now but I have been reluctant to breed her because I do not want t take the risk of whatever problem she has being genetic and passed onto the babies. So until I find a vet who can figure out what is wrong she is a look but don't touch girlfriend for my males. Anything of this sort scares me just from my own experience with it.

Thanks for the replies. I do indend on calling my vet first thing tomorrow morning, unfortunately the vet in my area that sees reptiles is closed on sundays, so that is why i posted on here; to see if anyone had helpful info. He is on claforan.

Justin, Sorry to hear about your female, I really hope that isnt what is wrong with Waldo, my male. I wasnt home this weekend, my parents watched him and said he looked fine and that he was upside down this morning, thats when i noticed this strange and frightening behavior. i freaked out, didnt know what to do, thank god he straightened himself out. Has your female had a lot of episodes since the seizures started? Anything you know about seizures in chams?

No, i mentioned it in my last reply. It is called Claforan. Its an injection I need to give him every three days. Tomorrow is the first injection I will be administering. Wish me luck
