originally i wanted to get a panther chameleon but lately i have been thinking about a veiled, it would cost less and with it being my 1st chameleon i dont want to go all out and have something bad happen in the end, my problem is that all the research i have done has been for panther chameleons, is they any big differences between how the 2 species should be kept? does 1 need more of something than the other?

No not too much. If you go to http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/ it'll give you the rundown on veiled info. It's essentially a little warmer basking spot and a little less humidity. Everything else is the same.
