Hey guys, I've had my Chameleon for about a month now (he's 3 months old) and I'm noticing he stays to one side of the cage a majority of the time. His setup has full UVB, but the basking light is more towards the right side of the cage angled towards the middle (due to the construction of the home build). His basking temp is between 84-88 degrees, but I also notice that most of the heat stays around the basking area and doesn't really warm up the other side of the cage. I'm thinking this is because of the bulb which is a 65w BR30 Incadescent, so I went out and bought a 65w BR40 flood Incadescent to hopefully distribute more of the heat coming from the bulb itself around the cage. The hood lamp can be dimmed so I know not to burn the little dude. Just wondering what your thoughts were.
It's also a very tall cage 5.5 feet but the LxW are both 24 inches, so I don't expect him to use the bottom portion for a while if ever. He's doing fine, I have no general concerns and is eating 12-15 small crickets a day. Just wondering if changing from BR30 to BR40 was a good idea or a waste of money.
