For those who have been breeding panthers, what incubation temps have you had the best luck with? I've searched previous threads and found many different techniques. Thank you in advance!

Panther incubation temps

People do it a few different ways, its really up to you. I have heard people just putting them in the closet its what you feel comfortable doing. seeing that you are from CA you should be fine.

I have kept mine in a closet drawer near the floor. The temps fluctuate from 74 to 78F during the summer and were as low as 68 to 72 during the winter and spring months. My first small batch of nine hatched out May 23rd with an incubation period a week shy of 7 months. The next larger clutch of 23 eggs have been going since Jan 23 and are still looking very good. They are growing as expected. I guess the hatch rate of these next 23 will determine how good my temp range has been.

Have had near perfect hatch rate with a wide range of temps. Those kept cooler (well under 70F/20C for the initial several months and later for the last while close to around 70F) took much longer (13 months) to hatch (but hatched all within days of one another) than those kept at about 68F-77F / 20C-25C the whole time (7 -9 months, hatching slowly over nearly 2 weeks). In all cases, Days were warmer than nights (no incubator, justa shoebox and a closet). So Eggs seem very tolerant of a range of temps.

Thank you Sandra that is an excellent thread, I had read, but the exact temps weren't given for panthers.

Wow 7 months seems short. Do the babies seem strong? Have you lost any? How old are they now?

The clutch was only 9 since my female had dropped her eggs on the bottom of the cage and thats all I could save out of the 21 she laid. Out of the 9, 6 hatched with no problems and are growing like weeds. They have been strong and healthy from day 1 out of the egg. The other 3 eggs shrank and cracked but the split was too small for the babies to get out so they died in the egg. The 6 babies are almost 3 months now.
