Hi guys,

I have a little panther girl called Charlie, I'm not sure of her age but I think she's less than 4 months. I want to minimise egg developement & want to check I'm taking the right precautions. Her basking temp is 82F & I'm feeding her 8 medium-small crickets per day. Is this the right thing to do?

Also, at what age should I provide a laying bin? Will she need constant access to one?

Well around six months you should only feed every other day 5-8. Basking sounds fine but i have seen some people say to keep it at 80 degrees. As for the laying bin some say you should always have then in their cage because you NEVER KNOW!!!!!!!

I think you're right about the laying- bin, I know there are some great links here on how to set them, I'll have to get researching. When I move her adult cage I'll put one in.

As for feeding, I think I will have to wait til March to cut her back, as I'm not 100% sure of her age

The one in my avatar picture will be 5 months old on the 30th she is about 7inches long including tail, so if she looks like mine she might be around that age

she does look about that size.... she just looks so much smaller than my veiled was at that age! She is my first female, I guess they're smaller than the boys.

Until you are familiar with her particular "signs" you should keep a laying bin or a test bucket in her cage, yes.
Keep her temp down, as you are. Dont over feed once she reachs full size (your offering some variety other than just crickets, right?)
Dont let her see other chameleons

I'm giving her curly wing flies as well as crickets. I've offered her locusts, dubias, silkworms & calci-worms but she's not interested in those at the moment. Maybe she'll try them when she's older.
