Panther -eye closed

Ok so my friends chameleon -panther ambilobe 1 year old- is acting strange .
He shed his head and his back a month ago , and he sheded his tail and the rest of the body a week ago.
He eats normal,acts normal,poops normal,urates normal.
Temp at basking spot is 91F.
The only problem is that 3 days ago he started to keep one eye closed.
He tries to clean it very often .
Another thing i must mention is that yesterday night when he was sleeping and he was changing his colors very often- like he was dark green and the next seconds he was bright yellow and red - this kept going a lot in that night.

Maybe a peace of shed is bothering his eye?
He said he used some kanamicyn cream on his eye- bought from human pharmacy.

What do you think could be the problem with his eye?
Any idea why the cham kept changing his colors like that while sleeping?
What is best to do for his eye right now?i was thinking he could flush his eye with warm water and saline solution .
What else could he use for the eye?

here are some pics he just took - one with eye opened and 2 with eye closed.
i wait your advice.
thank you

what is his supplement schedule? what brand/type and wattage of lights are being used? The brightness looks really intense, but that could be from the camera flash.

could be vit A deficiency

the brightness is from the camera flash.
he uses a 5.0 uvb compact bulb reptiglo exo terra and for basking he uses a basking bulb of 60-100w depending of conditions. right now is summer and its too hot for basking bulb.

for dusting he uses exo terra multivitamin , and zoomed reptivite wtih d3.
he is dusting feeders with multivitamin once a week or two weeks.
and i just found out he is using calcium with d3 daily since the last 3 weeks becose he didnt found any plain calcium sup.
maye its overdusting with d3 that causes the problems. or vit A def.

if your are saying he is changing his colors, then you must be going in and looking at him.Are you opening the cage door to do so? Believe me, even if you think you are the quietest sometimes, they can sense it or see it or whatever! I cannot tell you how many times I tried to take pictures of my chameleon at night and was as quiet as a mouse and get ready to snap the pic and he would start turning green from yellow! Once I took a flash pic that was it, he started going back green altogether. As far as the eye, it could be what the other member said, Vit A def, or maybe some stuck shed in there that you cannot see.

update- he now has both eyes closed , nothing abnormal just keeps them closed . any advice is welcomed . thank you

I am sorry to say that a chamelon with his eyes closed IS abnormal. I would take him to a vet and have checked out. I am sure you know by now they only should be closing their eyes at night while they are sleeping.

this is not my chameleon , and i said nothing else abnormal than the fact that he is keeping his both eyes closed.
i know this is a problem ,and yes i know they shouldnt keep eyes closed during the day :p.
going to a vet is out of the question, he can't find a proper reptile vet where my friend lives.

@ Carol, do you think this one looks like my Jackson? i can see sunken eyes as well in those pics attached esp the last pic. My vet suggested a swab and water to use for cleansing both eyes if there is a particle not visible to our naked eye. Misting it indirectly will work as well. If it still closed for a about 4days to 1 week, this could be either infection or eyes got irritated in some way, assuming the owner has the right temp set up. If this totally bother you at all then time to see a VET, please tell your friend or whoever own this pet. Good Luck!

They look a lil sunken, hows his urates? Not a Vet but was told by local herp guru to do the following based on scenario for a few days before going to vet, and it will usually work.

Get some Saline Solution and vitamin A gel caps from drug store.

If you think it could be shed in his eyes:
1st thing in morning a drop of saline solution on both eyes if open, else:
Coat a q-tip with saline solution and GENTLY rub it across the eyelid opening on both eyes do this once a day when you notice the scenerio.

If supplementing has been improper and think its a vitamin A def:
Vitamin A puncture gel cap with needle and squirt it on back of 1 feeder a day for 5 days then 1 per 2 weeks

ah ok, misunderstood the way you worded it. I am not sure what else to tell you, if all of your conditions are right. I think if it is both eyes now, you can rule out a stuck shed. It is unlikely that both eyes have stuck shed in them. I have never had eye problems but I have read others on her giving straight Vitamin A(I believe in liquid form) for eye problems. Also, can you get him out in the sun? Try that and see if taking him away from the UVB light does not show any improvement. How old is the bulb by the way?. Has he changed it out over the past year?
