i have a panther chem i dont no what sex it is or how old it is but i've had it for a bout a year and a half, when i first got it the colour was always nice and bright some blues and reds but recently its gone a dull brownish colour its still moving about ok and comes out and still eats fine, i dust its food like normal, i changed the uv bulb, its the same as the old 1 i just replaced it for a new 1, so i dont no if theres anything wrong i had yemin chems before and never noticed anything like it before with them.
is there anything i need to be doing?

That's really very vague information for us to be able to guess anything. But if you fill out the "ask for help" form in the "health clinic" section, we will be more than happy to help you out. And if you can add some photos it would be great.

But if he had lots of colors then it was probably a male chameleon.

ok thanx sorry i cant give anymore info but the shop i got it from has since closed and theres no other shops near here that would have a clue about any reptiles.
its about 4 inches long and its never laid any eggs or never tried to dig or try to find somewhere to lay any ( i had day geckos and she always layed egss even tho she was on her own)

i've had him for about a year and a half, he comes out most days even just for a few minutes sometimes and is happy to sit out in the garden in the sunshine, he gets locuts and the odd wax worm from time to time there dusted with calcium powder, its chameleon dust by t-rex,there is a water fall in the tank which he uses to drink from i see him drinking and we spray the tank twice a day till its all dripping, the droppings havnt changed at all there still dark with bits of lucuts in them, he's in a wodden tank with glass doors and not in direct sunlight, its 3ft high by 2ftby 2ft, the uv light and spot light are on a timer 12 hours on 12 off and it has a heat mat for the cold nights max temp is 30 c coldest is about 19-20 at night i have no real plants in the tank.
none of the things or conditions in the tank have changed

Is it possible that you could post a picture of your chameleon? It's a little hard to determine male or female without a picture. If you have had him for a year and a half and it's only 4 inches, that is extremely small for a male panther. It sounds more female, but again, a picture is needed.

Does it look like any of the pictures here:

and if so, which one is most similar? (each photo has a name)

Typically waterfalls are not a recommended source of drinking water (they are bacteria hell holes)
Heat matts are not recommended either. In nature, Chams get their heat from the sun shiny down on them in the trees - they do not warm themselves on heated ground

I would love to see a pic. My panther has been dull and ashy for about 6 months and is just now getting his color back. When he was young he was green with red underneath and a white lateral line. Now he is more red with a green head and white lateral lines. U bars are greenish blue.

hi sandra he looks like the 1 in the pics 2nd row down last pic on the left, hope that helps, he seems pretty active still and no problem with feeding or shedding,
the heat mat i have in my tank is on the side under some leaves and its only on in the winter nights (it gets abit cold here in ireland sometimes). if i didnt use that what would you recomend for nights after the lights go off?
