Panther chameleon sizes

I noticed my nosey be is a lot smaller than my ambanja, the ambanja is about a year old, nosey be is 10 months. My 7 month ambanja is about the same size as the nosey be. He doesn't look thin or anything just all around smaller. My 1 year ambanja weighs ~140g, the nosey be is probably around 80...

Could the cage size have anything to do with it? I've heard some people mention this can affect their growth I raised my nosey be in a 18x36 while my ambanja was free ranged. Or is it just all genetics?

Just wondering if you guys noticed panther chameleons sizes to be all over the place.

I raised my panther in a 36x18x18 til he was about a year old. Now he's in a large dragonstrand hybrid (I think 44x21x16..?) I weighed him a few weeks ago and he was 185g but supposedly his sire is one of the larger breeders they have... He's over a year and half old now and eats maybe 4times a week.

Septiceye is 166 grams . He just turned a year . I'm not sure what size Matt had him in thinking 24x24x48 Matt had Septiceye till 6month he came to us weighing in at 96 grams he has doubled his size .

We're talking about small cages stunting growth of chameleons....or not.
It's a myth that the small tanks stunt the growth of the red earred slider turtles...and IMHO it's a myth for chameleons too.

Or a fish ? I heard that for fish as well . I have not ever read it would stunt a chameleons growth just that they may not be happy . You would know better . I don't have anywhere near experience you have .

@kinyonga not that it's healthy, but that it can possibly stunt their growth in a bad way. I heard this from a very experienced parson breeder. Not as something to do, but as a warning. I mentioned it as a theory someone told me, not as something I'd do to cut corners....

I normally don't give stuff like that even a second thought, I kept coral reefs as a kid. Heard the age old "fish wont outgrow a tank" myth. I was just surprised in my panther size differences, 2 were free ranged. One caged. Caged one is smaller, along with hearing this from an experienced keeper, it made me wonder. Kind of offended you guys expect me to be that dumb lol

Oh goodness it was a great question !!. I have not ever read that but who knows . I'm not as Experience as all you are . This is how we learn and I certainly don't think you are dumb !!.

@jamest0o0. Said..."not that it's healthy, but that it can possibly stunt their growth in a bad way". I heard this from a very experienced parson breeder. Not as something to do, but as a warning. I mentioned it as a theory someone told me, not as something I'd do to cut corners"...I understood what you meant. I've never heard of a chameleon being stunted by the size of the cage. It's more like!y a nutrition thing or genetics IMHO.

@Kristen Wilkins. Yes...like they say about fish.

It's all good, I just didn't mean it to come off like a question asking if I can keep a Cham small by giving him a small cage. Hope you guys didnt take it that way... If it did happen, I'd assume it was unhealthy stunting, wasn't sure if anyone ever heard of this before. My guess was it's just genetics, but I like to hear what more seasoned Cham keepers have to say on these less talked about theories/subjects.

I can't speak for others but I definitely did not take it that way at all . I really should not even say question more of a thought written out for feed back . Like you said there's Amazing seasoned keepers with so much info to provide . Your not to shabby your self in the knowledge department ;) .
