Ok I noticed in the middle of the day today my ambanja panther chameleons spikes and the skin about 1/4 an inch down has a solid white layer on it. I thought it was try shed but I havnt seen him shed the rest of his body. Here are some pics, tell me if anyones got any ideas of what it might be. Does this look serious??? something that needs a vet? or something easy fixable. I have owned chams for awhile now and never seen anything like this except when shedding.

My Nosy has done the same thing. He is starting to shed try not to hold him while he is and he will does his thing. Keep the humidity up and he should be fine.

Chams will just shed parts of their bodies when they are older. My cham had dry white shed on his head for about a week before he actually shed his whole body. Not saying thats what is is but maybe a possibility.

ok I will keep up the humitity and if he starts to act strange I guess I will take him to the vet and see if theres something wrong.

I don't think there is any need for alarm. A lot of Chams will peel/split along the top of their back before the rest of their bodies start.

Think you just caught him in the beginning of his shed.
