Hey guys! I thought I would finally come on here and ask this question
So, he is 5 months old, he's been in my care for 2 days now, slowly getting used to his cage, his basking temp is 84-85, ambient 75, staying very hydrated, ate great yesterday, but I was wondering people have said they act differently when about to shed, he's been yawning and stretching quite often. Also neglected a superworm and cricket earlier. Although he already has eaten a couple crix now. But he does have tiny little flakes of skin coming off, so when will he really be shedding like all his skin?

Welcome to the forum! They shed a lot when young and growing. Yawning and stretching is normal when they are about to shed. Some will not want to eat much before and during the shed, that is normal.

I never noticed my chams acting differently before a shed, but maybe I just didn't associate an odd behavior with a shed a day or two later. I am a bit concerned that the shed is coming off in small flakes. Mine finish their shed in like maybe 20 - 60 minutes (never timed it) and in big chunks. Perhaps someone can answer if it is abnormal for them to shed in little flakes. I would assume this would be from low humidity. You should probably look into it.... or maybe someone will clarify.

Okay thank you so much, because when I picked him up the breeder told me he's getting ready for a shed, and there's like white-ish skin on his head, some flakes by his tail, spine, and legs.

Do you guys know from any experience of how long it will take for bigger pieces to shed perhaps?

I can try getting a picture of him, he's behind a couple plants right now, when he comes back up to his basking spot I'll post it.

That little bit could just be the start. I was picturing alot more little specs of (dry) skin.

Okay good haha, because the humidity was good in his cage people also said mist them with luke warm water to help with the shedding process which I did, how long until bigger pieces start shedding by chance?

Not sure how long it will take. Be very careful with the "luke warm" water. Warm to us is different than them.

Yes, I made sure it was barely warm, the water had some warmth but also a little cool a the same time, he seems to be doing great this morning
