Panther Chameleon HELP!

Guys i really need some advice here. My 8 months old panther chameleons are being housed together and i am just on the verge of seperating them ( yes i know they should be housed individually) anyway i walked into my room today and they where mating and it was too late to stop them.

But i am really confused i thought they where too young to get it on. Does this mean she will lay eggs or is she too young she is only 28 grams. Maybe they where just practicing lol.

Oh and by the way don't have a go at me i know i should have housed them seperately and i am doing this i have been setting the cage up.

8 months old and only 28 grams? That sounds more alarming to me than laying eggs. Yes it is highly possible she will lay eggs, so make sure you separate them NOW and put a laying bin in with her about 12 inches deep. coconut fiber and play sand works well. Make sure it is moist but not soggy.

Thanks mate this is the advice that i really need. The enclosure will hopefully arrive tomorow. This is my first time keeping chameleons so im a bit unsure. Will the eggs be infertial and how long will it take for her to lay them?

If the female is only 28g, how large is the male?

I tried to weigh the male but he is so skitish because i don't handle them much because i think they find it stressfull. Anyways he is bigger yes but in bulk not length. I didn't weigh him in the end i physicly couldn't do it so bloody lively lol.

This is them just before they got it on. You can see the male is getting really excited lol.

LOL, I didn't mean a picture of them doing it ! They look good, but honestly I would re-check the weight. You can weigh your male tonight when he goes to sleep. Gently place him in a box in the dark and weigh it. He might wake up but if you keep him in the dark as much as possible it will lessen the stress, IMO. Your female will more than likely lay eggs and as mentioned earlier you need a laying bin for her.

There are some threads about it and the "search" button is a good way to find info. Not that I'm putting you off, but the bottomline is using playsand about 12" deep and kept moist not sogging. You don't need it at this very second so you have time to do some research.
